Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi Died In A Helicopter Crash Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi Died In A Helicopter Crash

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash, as reported by Iranian state media.

The crash also killed Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and other officials aboard the helicopter.

The crash occurred in a foggy, mountainous area in northwestern Iran, near the border with Azerbaijan.

State media released images of the wreckage from the helicopter.

Rescue and search teams confirmed the crash location and have been working to reach the site despite difficult weather conditions.

Twenty rescue teams, including drones and dogs, were deployed to the scene, with Iranian military troops assisting.

Two passengers from the flight communicated with rescue workers, as reported by IRNA

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei posted on X, expressing hope for Raisi and his entourage’s safety and reassuring the continuity of government functions.

Raisi, a hard-liner, was elected president in 2021 and had a reputation for crushing dissent and maintaining a strict stance on various issues.

The incident leaves Iran without two key diplomatic figures amid heightened regional tensions, particularly from the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
